John has been excellent in sorting out my neck pain when it flares up. He uses a range of tools and techniques according to what I need and offers advice and suggestions of how I can manage it myself. John is very flexible and always manages to see me quickly.

My wife is a keen walker, after a fantastic walking holiday a week later she couldn't hardly walk. Luckily we were referred to John, who was patient, informative and reassured her "we can fix this, don't worry". After a few sessions you could see results...
We had another holiday booked, we discussed with John how active can she be. He spent time to discuss signs to watch for, and advised not to push it too much. He could see how upset she was as she loves walking. He then offered
to strapped her leg up, to help support her knee. This was a game changer. We got about, using the bus and walked more than we expected. Johns advice and help, made our holiday. We are so grateful 🙏. Would strongly recommend him, you won't be disappointed...

I was referred to Lichfield Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic by Bupa with immobility after cancer of the spine. The first time I met John I was in a wheelchair, at our last appointment I walked in and walked out. John has an excellent attitude to what your treatment requirements are and pushed me to get the best results every time we met. I would use his services again and thank him for getting me back on my feet.

As a regular gym fanatic in my 40s, I was suddenly struggling with severe sciatic pain which after 12 weeks wasn’t getting any better. I work in a desk job, so I reverted to standing for 8 hours a day as it was the only way to lesson my discomfort.
I saw the doctor twice over the duration, once at 8 weeks, and once at 12. He suspected a bulging disk at L4 / L5 and gave me strong pain medication. The next steps were an MRI which I was hoping to avoid.
I decided to contact John as I’ve used him previously with a niggling shoulder injury. Again after 7 sessions, I’m now back to 100% and able to hit my gym routine again without any discomfort.
I can’t recommend John highly enough, his friendly persona backed up by his extensive professional knowledge built up over many years works miracles. It doesn’t matter if its Physiotherapy, back pain, sports injury, lower / upper body treatment; John has the tools to fix you.
Thanks John!

Been going to NHS hospital for the last 15 years with 4 bulging discs and John has done more in two sessions than in all the 15 years going there wished I had found John earlier good job so far with treatment and money well spent thanks Rod

My son my wife and I have been helped by John multiple times.(Back, neck, knee, arm). I am a keen cyclist and John has helped me overcome injuries from gardening and get back cycling. He is friendly professional and has a good knowledge of private consultants should the condition require more specialist input.

Totally incapacitated by agonising back pain, I was diagnosed by a local Osteopath and, later, my GP as suffering from a torn muscle, which I knew instinctively to be incorrect. I contacted John Garmston who spotted the displaced disc and started a course of treatment including manipulation, massage, electrical stimulation and even, at one point acupuncture. I am now pain free and, at 84 years old, am back playing golf three days a week. MAGIC!

I beg you, please go to someone else.
This was my first experience with a private physio and I feel as though I’ve been taken for a fool and wasted hundreds of pounds.
The cure: ‘rest’. I paid this guy £40 a week to tell me to rest all whilst telling me I shouldn’t be doing certain exercises that I love when recovered…
He doesn’t put any form of plan in place, admin doesn’t seem to exist (he won’t invoice clients and just accepts bank transfers - HMRC would not be too pleased) and he constantly tries to chase the next appointment.
When I said I couldn’t do a date he insisted that he ‘really needed to see me to treat me’ - not really sure what he means by treatment because there was no plan in place.
He cuts appointments short and always seems to be rushing.
I only went to John through these reviews and wish I had gone off the Lichfield Facebook groups which suggest other physios (note, not one person has recommended John).
I have since seen an NHS physio who said treatment has changed as science evolves and I should have been doing some activity to strengthen my tendon.
Over all complete waste of time and money. Please try someone else.

I had a pinched nerve in my neck and was desperate need of some help. Doctors gave me pain relief but I knew I'd need proper help. Rang John on a Friday afternoon at like 5pm. He managed to see me after 6pm on a Friday the same evening!!
He was brilliant from the assessment to the care plan and helping me recover. I went over 4 sessions. John was excellent and I would highly recommend this practice. I have 0 pain and my neck is feeling so much more better.
Thank you John!!
